Dr Sophia Butler-Cowdry's passions for skiing, diving and martial arts took her around the world as an instructor. She came to love yoga during her PhD in marine science, as she discovered its power to strengthen mind and body. Sophia then trained in London (200hr Yoga Alliance) and teaches high energy vinyasa flows that balance elements of calisthenics, breath control and mindfulness. Her style is strongly alignment-based, which ensures a safe and more effective practice for herself and students. Sophia works at one of London's top studios, The Power Yoga Company, and also at award-winning boutique gym, Core Collective. She's been invited to lead public classes in-store at leading activewear brand, Lululemon, and also at summer festivals. ​Having fused together her experience teaching extreme sports with yoga, ​Sophia developed her signature Slow Flow & Release® Sports Mobility programme. Sessions are designed specifically for ​physically-active men and women​, and are highly-tailored​ dependent on the needs of the group​. Regular sessions result in more elastic, responsive and resilient muscles and joints​, which leave athletes feeling better balanced, mobilised and repaired​. Sophia is currently working with one of ​London's largest Brazilian martial art schools, and the UK's leading ​wakeboard park​.​ ​If she's not in the UK, then find Sophia working with various marine conservation groups on one of her adventure yoga retreats - somewhere hot and beautiful by the sea!​
